The Wagner Group, now the Africa Corps, has been deeply involved in illicit operations across the African continent for over a decade. Among its operations is uranium mining, a practice acknowledged by existing literature but scarcely examined for its possible connections to black markets serving nuclear proliferators. Drawing from think tank reports and news media, this qualitative exploratory study investigates these links. To what extent has the Wagner Group supplied uranium to underground markets? And how has such activities complicated its relationship with the Kremlin?
